Steam tents are one of our all time favorite ways to keep our lungs healthy! We do this consistently, anytime we know we need extra support.

To do a steam tent:

  • Take a bowl of boiling water
  • Drop a couple drops of oil in the water (we switch between R.C. and Raven)
  • Put a towel over your head
  • Sit with towel over head, over bowl of boiling water for 10 minutes
  • After the 10 minutes is finished, lay over the arm of a couch (face down towards the ground)
  • Have someone pat on your back (all over) for a minute or so
  • Then done!

We do steam tents for adults, and started Gray with the steam tent at around age 5. Before Gray was 5 we did the younger children’s version.

Here is what we do for steam with younger children:

1. We apply an oil blend to the chest (SniffleEase or something gentle for children that supports happy lungs)

2. Then:

  • As we let the oil set, we start the shower in the bathroom as hot as we can get it.
  • We let it run for a few minutes to get it super steamy.
  • Once we know the bathroom is nice and steamy, we go in and stand in there (by the shower, not in it)
  • As we are hanging out in the steam, we play airplane on and off
  • I hold Gray on his tummy face down and we move him around like he is an airplane.
  • As I hold him face down, I pat his back. That way he is kept busy and playing, and I am helping loosen anything that needs to be loosened, (I don’t actually make him stay like an airplane for 10 minutes, we just do it throughout the 10 minutes on and off).

3. Once finished, we come out of the bathroom and pat the back a little more (with the head towards the ground), then we are done!

We do this consistently 2-3 times throughout the day. We also keep our diffuser and humidifier close by (along with the other things listed in the winter wellness post)!

Merry Christmas sweet friends! Praying you had a wonderful day celebrating Jesus today!
One of our most meaningful traditions will always One of our most meaningful traditions will always be baking Jesus a birthday cake on Christmas Eve to sing happy Birthday to Him on Christmas morning.

Someone has the baby Jesus from our nativity wrapped with their gifts on Christmas morning (they don’t know who will have him). When the person opens it, we stop, sing Happy Birthday with the cake, and then add Baby Jesus to our nativity, before continuing to open our gifts.

Happy Birthday Jesus!!!

It is one of my favorite places in the world! The most magical, cozy, winter wonderland you could ever dream of!

Our first day was spent going on a sleigh ride, and was full of moments that I’m savoring.

So thankful for together time with this precious family of mine!

Stay close, friends. I can’t wait to share more from our cozy winter wonderland trip!

May we slow down and savor the moments together th May we slow down and savor the moments together this season, as we wait with anticipation to celebrate the baby who came to rescue our world.

May we spend time connecting and writing stories they will pass on to future generations.

May we remember that we are the keepers of nostalgia and the ones who get to show them why this season matters.

Happy December, friends!
